Fitness junkies take the cue to turn off reality TV and get into the game themselves. Held two to three times a week from as early 5.45am, the hour-long sessions are crafted for fun and sociability, allowing one to challenge one’s capacity to achieve personal fitness goals while possibly learning to pogo hop from a new sweaty chum. Lead trainers Jason Moriarty and Jonathan Tan – who trained contestants on The Biggest Loser Asia reality TV show – get tactical with flab by motivating participants to sculpt fat into muscle without abusive shouting, whistle blowing or pie throwing. During each one hour session, disciples of fit jump, run, lift weights and heave push ups to sweat out weak wills, love handles and monosodium glutamate in exchange for better energy levels, improved stamina, leaner weight and firmer thighs and buttocks. The programme focuses on speed, agility and team building, with different workout routines each time. At month’s end, survivors who successfully complete all sessions receive a certificate of triumph which can be used to agonize a childhood rival, or prod someone to pass the salt.
Participants need to bring their own water and towel, and come in proper sports attire and shoes, as dragon skin clothing is meant for a different type of contesting. Programme begins sharp on time, and proper storage is provided for keeping valuables.
