Budding racers of the four-wheel kind sit through 30 minutes of theory, learning the ins and outs of go-karting as well as engine identification, accessory use and safety tips. Drivers also study the dos and don’ts, flag signals and how to send out smoke signals to locate long lost kart cousins. After leading racing infants around the track for ten minutes, gurus hand over the wheel to eager beavers for another ten minutes before a short break. Subsequent practical training consists of 90 minutes, where now medium-skilled racers absorb techniques such as rolling starts, racing lines and braking points. Skills acquired may be paraded on track where instructors analyse mistakes during Q&A sessions. Students should not don loose clothing, slippers and sandals and should not race or bump into other go-karts on track or face stern looks from instructors or a spell on the sidelines.
