Highly-sought-after radio talent, Chris Brooks from the UK and his team of international instructors advise burgeoning radio anchors on what programme directors want to hear in a demo and how to stand out. Students with ready-made demos will be coached on improvement, whilst avoiding coffee spills on expensive equipments. Telegraphy telepathists highlight the importance of understanding target demographics and what an audience may want out of a radio station or a presenter. Voice jockeys also demonstrate how to prepare for a programme and the research that may be used to better channel information or juggle microphones, while a session of legal and compliance issues helps prevent rebellious electronic airwaves entangling themselves in sticky statutory situations. At the end of this one-off workshop, students present a show on a fictitious radio station which will be produced into a show reel along with a typed appraisal for using to impress local radio stations or bathroom images. Light meals are provided, during which time participants take the opportunity to mingle with local industry professionals including presenters from BFM, Hot FM, Fly FM and one FM who will be participating in the workshop.
