Aiming for laser-like accuracy and efficiency, individuals, or groups of friends and temporary foes imitate galactic battle movie scenes in a 5,500 square feet arena with three levels. Combatants suit up in battle vests and brandish laser guns, before zapping opponents on impulse to gather points without causing injury during the non-contact game. Amidst a darkened arena with blood-pulsing music, unwary targets wearing light-coloured clothing glow under the fluorescent lighting and instinctively dive for cover under a curtain of fog as they stick out like an unlucky rabbit’s sore foot. Unlike films with parental guidance, marshals take action when players disregard game laws, keeping them out of commission for seven long seconds. Gamers are advised to wear flat closed-toe shoes. While running is not permitted, eager shooters take the opportunity to practice their speedwalking abilities. Although not included in this Groupon, Galactic Laser will be holding a “Capture the Flag” tournament on July 31, 2011, where two teams with four to six people will compete against one another to gather the most points.
