Since its debut in 1981, the Dreamgirls Broadway Musical has sparked fantasies of stardom amongst masses of musical maniacs, winning six Tony Award – an American award for live Broadway theatre – and becoming so well-loved that it was adapted into a major motion picture in 2006 starring big Hollywooders including Beyoncé Knowles and Jamie Foxx. Broadway Academy brings a slice of the American pie to Malaysia in the 2-hour musical which chronicles the story of a trio of young female songbirds from Chicago who gain fame, but lose themselves. Broadway buffs enjoy an afternoon chock-full of toe-tapping tunes and dramatic plot development potentially dangerous to the weak-hearted; a local star-studded cast – including Cheryl Samad, Elvira Arul, Tony Eusoff and more – belt out well-loved tunes whilst gallivanting across the stage in frivolous dance numbers, resulting in involuntary head-nodding and in more serious cases, unrestrained sing-alongs.

Hall opens at 3.00pm. Dress code is formal or smart casual.
